On August 15th, 2022, Amy Jo Clark rejoined her heavenly family and gained her wings at age 65 after a battle with cancer. It would be wrong to say that Amy lost her battle because she never stopped fighting. No matter how sick she was, she was always determined. When anyone else would have broken, Amy stayed strong. Through her, we know what resilience and perseverance truly look like.
Amy cared deeply for her family and neighbors. She did this not out of obligation but because of who she was. She was very proud of her family and was excited to become a “Granny” to her grandchildren. Amy loved holidays and family get-togethers; any chance to spend time with her family was important to her. She would spend hours cooking and preparing for her company. And she always ensured that every child who crossed her threshold was safe, healthy, and happy, especially during ‘girl’s weekends'.
Her hobbies and interests included family, gardening, sewing, and crafting, from school projects to Halloween costumes. She was a nurse and devoted much of her time and energy as a caregiver.
Amy was a devoted Episcopalian and one of the Daughters of the King who spent countless hours volunteering with her community and at St. David’s Episcopal Church.
Amy is survived by her sons Charles Thaxton and Adam Seaver, her daughters CJ Carr, Katherine Evers, Magda Thaxton, sister Haze Hanna, husband Shawn Timberlake, and many grandchildren. She was predeceased by her son Phillip Thaxton. While Amy’s family grieves her loss, they are choosing to remember Amy in a way that honors her spirit and invites you to remember her with them. The funeral service for family and close friends will be Saturday, August 27at 11 am at St. David’s Episcopal Church, 1015 Old Roswell Rd. The Celebration of Life will be hosted on August 28th at 12 pm at the Dunwoody Nature Center North Pavilion, and we welcome all to join us.
