BETTY G BAKER- Our beloved mother, grandmother, sister and friend, age 79, Betty G. Baker, passed on from this earthly life to her eternal life with our Lord and Savior on August 28, 2024.
Betty was a beautiful light that shined in this world brightly with joy, humor, love and a little bit of southern sass. She was preceded in death by her wonderful husband, friend, true love and parter in life, Dennis G baker, age 76. They were married 50+ years and were blessed with 4 children: Conrad C Baker, Candice C Baker-Herrera, Jonathan D Baker and Joanna D. Baker.
Betty met Dennis as young loves in their early twenties while Dennis was serving in the Marines and Betty was attending college. While growing their family, they traveled much of the country with the majority of their lives in Georgia, California, Texas, Florida and South Carolina. Betty worked for Spectra-Physics in California and was also a proficient homemaker and homeschool teacher, as Dennis provided above and beyond for all the family's needs entering the computer science field. Betty was a fun firecracker and turbo grandma to the end, from earning a gold medal in senior rowing competitions, to pastoring services at an occasional church service, to learning sign language, sewing, crafting and baking heritage southern biscuits, loving and caregiving Dennis in his late stages and going on hikes up the mountain with her nephew Jan and adventuring on road trips to visit family.
She was the youngest of the three beautiful girls to parents James and Geneva Mock of Tillman, South Carolina. She was preceded in death by her sister, Vicky of DC and survived in life by her sister, Tyke of Anderson, South Carolina; nephews and nieces, Jeff, Gabby, Jan, Nick and Cory from sister Tyke and her husband, Charlie; nephew, Kenneth from sister Vicky and her husband, Quinton.
She is survived by all of her adoring children, grandchildren and one great grandchild before either she or Dennis passed on. Grandchildren are as follows: Gabriel Anderson and Sierra Anderson Clover of Texas from Greg Anderson and daughter Candice Anderson Baker Herrera. Gavin Cannone of Georgia from son Conrad Baker and Jennifer Baker. Zachariah Baker Herrera, Savannah Baker Herrera, Camilliah Baker-Herrera, Ezekiel Baker Herrera, Angleina Baker Herrera, Jericho Baker Herrera of Texas from Gilbert Herrera and daughter Candice Anderson Baker Herrera. Betty and Dennis enjoyed knowing they achieved great-grandparent status by one gorgeous baby boy, Skylar Clover of Texas by Eric Clover and granddaughter Sierra Clover.
There are also many cousins and family in South Carolina, Georgia, Montana, South Dakota, Colorado and Ireland. Betty comes from the line of Fleming of Ireland and Cherokee from the Appalachias.
