Beverly Manning

BEVERLY LAWSON MANNING passed away at home on October 16,2024.  Beverly was born in Tampa, Florida on September 9, 1937.  She made an undeniable impact on her family, friends, students, and community.  Her passing leaves a hole in the world; our hope is to honor her legacy.

Bev was the first-born daughter of Cyrus and Virginia Lawson of Palma Ceia.  She was the apple of her daddy’s eye, while her Mother and sister Barbara often struggled against her bold spirit.  She was smart and strong, proud and popular, attractive and ambitious, a member of the Garden Club and Eastern Star.

In the mid-1950s, she met and fell in love with a kind country boy named Norman Manning from Ellaville, Georgia.  He said she was the brightest, most beautiful, and sophisticated woman he ever saw. They married on March 9, 1957, and one year later Norman Jr. was born.  Two more sons in 5 years (Scott and Robbie) and their life on Central Avenue in Tampa was complete.

Not one to ever be satisfied, Bev went back to school, graduating suma cum laude with a Master’s Degree in Special Education from the University of South Florida.  She excelled at everything she ever tried. When her boys left home and Norman retired, they moved to a condo on St. Pete Beach, like she always dreamed. They travelled the world together and finally settled in Waleska, Georgia.  They bought a beautiful treehouse in the mountains and lived happily ever after.

Beverly is being celebrated by her husband of 67 years, Norman Manning; her three sons, Lonnie (Renee), Scott (Linda), and Robbie (Tammy); her grandson, Taylor Manning; and her granddaughters, Rhonda and Rica.

The Celebration of Beverly’s life will begin at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, October 22, 2024, with visiting, and a service at 6, at the Grace Community Church at 7770 Hickory Flat Hwy, Woodstock, Georgia. In lieu of flowers, Bev is asking you to consider a donation to CARES Food Bank or Sacred Journey Hospice.
