Carl Wayne Sissom

Carl Wayne Sissom, 83, of Bent Tree, Jasper passed away Sunday, October 13, 2019.  Carl was born in Grundy County, Tennessee as the oldest child of 8, to the late Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Sissom, coalminers. He served his country in the US Navy for 20 years and 6 years retired civil service. Mr. Sissom obtained his Master’s Degree in Hospital Administration, worked as a mental health therapist at Parkside Lutheran General Hospital in Chicago, totaling 45 years as a certified alcohol/drug counselor.  He and his wife, Noranna, moved to the Bent Tree Community in Jasper in Fall of 1998. Mr. Sissom inspired thousands of people with his stories of healing and life.

Carl was preceded in death by his sister, Gwindelyn Sue Hall and is survived by his loving wife of 40 years Noranna Jean Sissom; children, Kimberly (Richard) Burgess, James (Lisa) Sissom and Christopher Sissom; step-children, Jay (Margie) Wingender and Alyssa (Christopher) Vaughan; 17 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; siblings, Richard Sissom, Judy Sissom, Roger Sissom, Billy Lynn Hatfield, Della Peterson and Debbie Patton and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held for Carl at 1 PM on Saturday, October 26, 2019 at the Episcopal Church of the Holy Family, 202 Griffith Road, Jasper, GA with a reception to immediately follow.

Memorial remembrances are welcome and cherished.
