Carol Bartel of Cartersville, Georgia passed away peacefully on July 14, 2024 in her home, surrounded by her beloved children. She was 86 years old.

Carol was a loving, devoted mother to her four children, and she dedicated all her time to their youthful endeavors and activities. She was a Girl Scout leader and Cub Scout leader for 12 years, President of the PTO, and founded the first field days at Bells Ferry Elementary in Marietta Georgia. At that time there was not a PE program at the school, so Carol developed a volunteer schedule to teach physical education. She worked with the principal to lobby the county for a full-time PE teacher, which was finally granted. She spearheaded the installation of the first playground equipment at the school and volunteered countless hours for her community.

Carol loved going to the North Georgia mountains in the fall, and the beaches of Jekyll Island. She loved sewing and crafting, could solve every crossword puzzle in ink, and was an avid reader. She enjoyed movies and family game nights and had a popcorn bowl big enough to feed anyone who came over to play games. After her children were grown, she volunteered for several years with Meals on Wheels delivering food and friendship to those in need. She was a proud grandmother, who was lovingly named Gran. Her amazing laugh was infectious and she was so witty and fun! Carol will be missed by all who knew her.

Carol is preceded in death by her parents Marguerite and Richard Randall of Winter Park, FL. She is survived by her loving children, Eric and his wife Dedra of Smyrna; Adam of Cartersville; P. Ryan and his wife Rachel of Acworth; and Amy of Milton, and her four grandchildren Jesse, Jacob, Meadow and Luke of Milton. She is also survived by her sister Kathleen and husband Peter; her brothers Craig and wife Jane, and Christopher, plus many nieces and nephews.

Honoring Carol’s wishes, she will be cremated. A small gathering of family members will celebrate her life at a later date.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association. Or to Meals on Wheels Atlanta. In Honor of Carol and her mother.

Thank you for loving our mom. ❤️
