Lafayette, Georgia

David Baxter, a beloved self-employed painter, artistic soul, and cherished family member, passed away peacefully on March 24, 2025, in Lafayette, Georgia, at the age of 69. Born on August 12, 1955, in Saint Elmo, Tennessee, David grew up surrounded by the beauty of life, both in nature and in the vivid colors that he would later bring to life through his art.

Throughout his life, David cultivated a passion for painting that not only served as his profession but also as a means to express the emotions he often penned in poetry. Beyond his artistic endeavors, David enjoyed the joys of life through golf, card games, and sharing laughter with friends and family through his love of telling jokes.

David’s spirit and humor left a lasting imprint on those around him. He was a devoted husband to Sheilah Rena Baxter, who stood by his side through every triumph and challenge. Together, they created a loving home filled with joy, laughter, and artistic flare.

David is survived by his beloved wife of fifty years, Sheilah Baxter; two loving daughters, Allison Carrie Hall (Michael Hall) and Angel Buckner (Michael Buckner); his eight adored grandchildren, Cassidy Lowe, Chloe Hall, David Parker, Jasmine Buckner, Trinity Smith, Isabel Buckner, Lilian Faith Buckner and Jackson Buckner; and eight great-grandchildren: Serinity Hall, Wyatt Hall, Trinity Lowe, Lucas Parker, Jaxson Parker, Samuel Parker, and Madelyn and Evelyn York; brothers, Jamie Baxter and Jody Baxter. Such a lineage speaks volumes of the love he fostered and the strength of family he cherished.

David was preceded in death by his father, Carvel N Baxter, and his mother, Linda A Baxter, who undoubtedly welcomed him with open arms into the embrace of eternity.

As we remember David, it is with an understanding that his life was one of color, creativity, and unwavering love for his family. His memory will forever be painted in the hearts of all who knew him, and his spirit will live on through the laughter, stories, and art he left behind.
