George Raymond Hill, Jr., age 69, of Woodstock, Georgia, passed away peacefully on May 7, 2023, with family by his side at Northside Hospital Cherokee in Canton, Georgia, following a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on June 6, 1953, in Santiago de Cuba, to the late, George Raymond Hill, Sr., and the late Mary Bonner Hill, where his father was stationed in the U.S. Navy at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.

George was a loving husband, Dad, Poppy, and brother.  Survivors include his loving wife, Sharon Hill; sons, Joseph Hill (Sommer Barickman), Joseph White (Jason Kendig), Alan White (Robin); daughter, Natasha White (Charles Jones); grandchildren Chloe Hill, Reagan Harwood, Mason Harwood, Scarlet White, Eve White, Jackson (Ansleigh) Jones; sisters, Anne Marie (Joe) Robinson, Deborah (Allen) Alvo, Julie (Saul) Lucio; special Aunt Ann Hammock; sisters-in-law and brothers-in law, Don & Becky Rogers, Jane Garrett Anderson, Johnny Whitmore, Mark & Debbie Whitmore, along with countless nieces, nephews, cousins, family, friends, and lifelong friends who called him “Brother.”

He was a 1971 Paxton High School graduate, Jacksonville, Florida; United Tech Institute graduate and studied at Luther Rice Seminary. George fiercely loved and served the U.S. Navy. He worked for over 40 years in copier and office equipment repair, owning Hill’s Copier Service for 20 years and working at TEK Systems and Toshbia Business Systems. George retired in 2021.

George married his love, Sharon, on May 29, 2003. A cherished verse for them was “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end”. Jeremiah 29:11 KJV.

At a young age, George accepted Jesus as his personal Savior. He attended Woodstock City Church and was active in Small Group. His love was shown through encouragement and support of his family, friends, neighbors, or anyone in need. Do-It-Yourself projects were favorites—trying to repair most anything—and usually did. His love of reading, studying the Bible, watching westerns, fishing, smoking Boston butts, special way of saying your name and personal birthday serenades are treasured memories of a loving and well-loved man.

A Celebration of Life service honoring George will be held on Tuesday, June 6, 2023, at 11:00 a.m., at Woodstock City Church, 150 Ridgewalk Parkway, Woodstock, Georgia. Family will receive friends there, followed by Interment at Georgia National Cemetery, Canton, Georgia.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorial contributions to:                                            Disabled American Veterans, K9s for Warriors, or St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
