Henry Brake IV, fondly known as Hank, was born on December 28, 1962, in Raleigh, North Carolina. He passed away on January 19, 2025, in Canton, Georgia, leaving behind a legacy that echoed throughout the venues of the North Georgia mountains where his love for country music came alive.
Hank's heart was rooted in the melodies of country music, and he devoted much of his life to pursuing his dream of becoming a country music star. His passion led him to travel extensively, especially within the beautiful North Georgia mountain area, performing at various venues and sharing his musical gifts with all who had the pleasure of hearing him sing. Each note resonated not only with his love for the art but also with the joy he found in connecting with people through music.
Those fortunate enough to know Hank will fondly remember his vibrant spirit. He was a people person, with an infectious smile that could light up any room. Despite the hardships life threw his way, Hank's appreciation for life remained steadfast, reminding those around him of the beauty in even the simplest moments. One cherished memory shared by cousin Judy Siegel Henn says, "on one of our visits after I already lived in Israel, Hank was sent to town to buy something and came back with a huge plastic cup for me from Hardees - which I still have and use in the summer, filled with ice."
Hank was not just a talented singer; he was also a smart dresser who took pride in his appearance. His signature cowboy look—complete with sculpted shirts adorned with snaps, boot-cut jeans, well-polished cowboy boots, a string tie, and a classic Stetson—truly highlighted his handsome demeanor. He carried this style with confidence, embodying the spirit of the music he loved.
Henry is survived by his beloved son, Henry Louis Brake, V; his father, Henry Louis Brake III; his stepmother, Paula Jones Brake; his brother, Jonathan Lee Brake (Alisa); and his brother-in-law, Keith Allen Hill. The memory of his late mother, Katie Elaine Slaughter Brake, and sister, Amy Lara Brake Hill, will forever be cherished in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
As we remember Hank, we celebrate the life he lived—full of music, laughter, compassion, and a smile that could light up the darkest of days. His spirit lives on in his family and friends, and in every sweet country tune that carries the echoes of his voice. Hank’s journey, filled with dreams and heartfelt connections, will remain an inspiration to all who were touched by his warmth and artistry.
