Jerry Howard Gravitt

Jerry Howard Gravitt, age 77 of Acworth, Georgia passed away peacefully, at his home surrounded by his family on Sunday, February 16th, 2025.  Jerry was born on October 23, 1947 in Cartersville, Georgia the son to the late Howard and Thelma Gravitt.

Jerry was a husband, beloved daddy and proud Popa that lived a life full of love for his family and an unwavering dedication to his work.  His strength was evident in all aspects of his life.  Jerry married Diane Tow in July of 1966 and together they raised two daughters and built a family that grew to include grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Jerry was a gifted carpenter at a young age and that talent served him with a professional career throughout his lifetime which included building and selling houses and developing subdivisions.

His greatest joy was being surrounded by those he loved and his work at his job or for his church or anyone that needed his help, offering wisdom, laughter and a steady presence that will be deeply missed.

Jerry will be remembered for his work ethics, strength, kindness and the stories he loved to share and his strong desire to enjoy life.  He was a mentor, protector and has left a legacy that will carry on through the generations he helped to shape.

He is survived by his wife, Diane Gravitt; daughters, Kim Marshall (Tim), Christi Bennett (Johnny); grandchildren, Brandon Wilbur (Whitney), Austin Haynes, Tyler Bennett (Tiffany), Will Bennett (Shelby), Emilie Feyerabend (Mason), Caleb Bennett (Makayla), Caleb Marshall; great-grandchildren, Brenna Wilbur, Addie Ogden, Aubrey Bennett, Cooper Bennett, Ava Feyerabend, Bailey Bennett; sisters, Sandra Owens and Sherry Sexton as well as many nieces and nephews.

Though he is no longer with us in body, his love, strength, and sense of humor will live on as a legacy in the hearts of all who knew him.

A celebration of life to honor the memory of Jerry Gravitt will be held on Saturday, March 1st, 2025 at 1:00 PM at Awtrey Westwood Baptist Church located in Acworth, Georgia.  Family and friends are warmly welcomed to share their favorite stories and memories with us.
