Lin Pollard died in June, 2023, and her husband Charles Pollard followed her in death shortly thereafter. They resided in Georgia, and are survived by their daughter and two grandchildren.
Lin and Charles met in undergraduate geology class at Rice University, and were married immediately after graduation. They went on to earn PhDs in Geology from Florida State University. They were registered professional geologists in Georgia.
Lin taught at Georgia State University, Emory University and Georgia Tech, and also worked for the US Geological Survey. In younger days, she played cello and tennis.
Charles taught at Georgia Tech until his retirement, and his favorite pass-time was trout fishing. He also enjoyed hunting birds and playing racquetball in his younger days.
They shared a lifelong love of learning, teaching, being outdoors, and conservation, and they had a lot of fun over the years they were together.
The family held a private memorial service.
In lieu of flowers, donations in the Pollards’ names may be made to a nature conservation charity of your choice.
In Their Honor of Jasper is humbled to care for Blair during the loss of both parents.
