Lois I. Jacobson of Waukesha, Wisconsin, passed away on Monday, July 8th, 2024, at the age of 86 after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease/Lewy body dementia. She was born on November 10th, 1937, to Roscoe and Meta (Beckman) Butterfield in Hayward, Wisconsin. Lois received her high school diploma from Hayward High School in 1955. She continued on to the University of Wisconsin, Whitewater, where she was a proud member of the Alpha Sigma Sorority and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business. She later obtained her master’s degree from UWW.

In her college years, she worked as a lifeguard at a camp, learned to water ski, and met the love of her life. On May 5th, 1962, she married Duane A. Jacobson at a small church in Spider Lake, Wisconsin. They shared 62 beautiful years of marriage. Together, they had 3 children: Kirk (Patricia) Jacobson, Krista (Terry) Dittrich, and Dawn Noska.

Lois was a proud teacher at MATC, WCTC, Darien High School, Waukesha South High School, and Catholic Memorial High School. She taught business, keyboarding, computer classes, and was an avid user of American shorthand. She loved investing, commodity trading, and world travel. Her passion for teaching poured into everything she did. She often encouraged her children and grandchildren to become teachers and emphasized the importance of higher education. In her spare time, Lois enjoyed perfecting others' resumes and cover letters and caring for children—her siblings, her own children, and grandchildren.

Lois enjoyed spending her winters in Marco Island, Florida, where she would walk the beach and spend time with family during the holidays. In the summers, she could be found at her cottage on Lake Mendota, where she would take long walks in Governor Nelson State Park and name all the wildflowers along the path. She was known in the family for her famous blueberry pancakes, oatmeal cookies, and for making the thickest noodle soup we ever did see. She could also be found playing tennis at Buchner Park in Waukesha, working out at the YMCA, or battling her yard’s enemy—the garlic mustard plant.

She often found laughter in everyday life. Her contagious giggle that would shake the whole pew in church will be forever missed. She was kind, caring, a true leader, and one of the strongest women we’ve had the privilege to know and love.

Thank you to all who cared for her: her children, grandchildren, and the many other caring individuals who came into her life while she was fighting Parkinson’s Disease.

She is survived by her husband; siblings Joyce (Tom) Baurain, Lloyd (Linda) Butterfield, Roscoe (Jane) Butterfield, Kathryn Bailey, Forrest (Jan) Butterfield; brother-in-law Don Klemme; her children; 5 grandchildren: Derek (Katie) Noska, Monique Noska, Nicholas Jacobson, Jennifer Jacobson, Turner Dittrich; and son-in-law Randal Noska.

She is preceded in death by her parents; siblings Keith (Jean) Butterfield, Tom Butterfield, Janet Klemme; and brothers-in-law Bill Jacobson, Dick (Adele) Jacobson, Gary Jacobson, and Don Jacobson.
