Patricia Hammett (McCard) North, of Jasper, Georgia, passed away on Wednesday, June 22, 2022, with her daughters by her side.

Pat’s family invites all friends and loved ones to join them as they celebrate her life with a memorial service at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 23, 2022, at the arbor at Holbrook Campground, with lunch to follow in Tent 3D. Holbrook Campground is located at 2550 Holbrook Campground Rd., Alpharetta, GA .

Pat and her twin Pamela were born to Pauline Fouts Hammett & William “Bud” Hammett, in January of 1944, while their father was serving in the Army during WWII. Sadly, Pamela died just before their 4th birthday; her parents passed years later.

Pat was a nurturer at heart and loved caring for her home, family, pets, wild birds, squirrels, and even a groundhog couple who called her backyard home. She inherited a green thumb and had flowers and plants to prove it. She excelled at homemaking and cooking--from scratch, of course.

Known as “Mama Pat” and “Pat-Pat,” her favorite 'things' to nurture were the small children in her life. She had a supply of baby powder and lotion and loved nothing better than drying off a freshly bathed baby. Her lap was always ready; there were books to be read and snacks to be had.  From her many years of teaching preschool in Ball Ground, Clayton, and Hickory Flat, she had a ready supply of art supplies and a fanciful hand when personalizing gifts for those she loved.

Pat collected a menagerie of things. She craved the beach and went every chance she had. She enjoyed rooting for the Elliotts (NASCAR) and the Braves, as well as her grandchildren in whatever they pursued. She was always up for a discussion on current events, politics, and what the weather had in store. Her presence is greatly missed, but her impact and memory will live on.

Pat’s daughters are Cindy McCard Turner & husband Terry Turner of Ball Ground, Jerry Ann McCard Hales & husband Robby Hales of Adairsville, and Nicole North & James Hayes of Jasper. Her grandchildren are Ben (& Jessica) Turner, Josh (& Emily) Turner, Erin (& Nate) Dever, Rachel (& Dr. Joseph) Hill, Joseph (& Halei) Hales, Emma Hales, Kaiden North, Karson Stuckey, Kole Hayes, and Kaleb Hayes. Great-grandchildren—to date—are Charlie, Henry, & Lucy Turner, Olivia & Abigail Dever, and Alice Hill, with baby girl Emery Turner due to arrive in August. Pat is also survived by her younger sister Jane Hammett Wigington of Jasper, along with nephews, nieces, and many cousins.

Pat’s family would like to thank Dr. Frank Lopez, Dr. Najam Sabreen, Dr. Tamim Kharrat, Dr. Andrea Keyes, Georgia Mountain Hospice, Sally Sims, and In Their Honor of Jasper for walking this journey with them.

And Pat's daughter, Cindy, would like to offer a special thank you to her husband Terry for his loving and kind heart and his willingness to open our home and selflessly serve her mother over the years. Mama Pat often said, "I don't know what I'd do without Terry." Neither does Cindy.
