Richard Guyette, age 79, of Ellijay, Georgia, passed away on Wednesday, December 25, 2024. Born on August 7, 1945, in Salt Lake City, Utah, he was the son of the late Martha Luann Milligan and his stepfather Lou Milligan. Richard's journey took him from California to Ellijay, Georgia, in 2021, where he settled with his family.

Richard spent the majority of his life in California,after seven years of courtship, in 1997 he married his girlfriend Lisa Matthews in Ventura, CA. Together they shared a beautiful life filled with adventures. On November 11th 1998,they welcomed their daughter, Samantha. Richard cherished his family and their time together, whether it was restoring classic cars, attending drag races, flying planes, driving hot rods,or watching NASCAR.

A passionate classic car restorer, Richard spent many years carefully maintaining and adding to his cherished car collection. His love of racing, both in the real world and in his heart, was matched only by his love for his family. He also had a lifelong love of music and was known for playing guitar with his loved ones, creating many joyful memories. Richard was not only a skilled mechanic but also a lifelong learner, always eager to improve his craft and connect with others.

Richard's passing comes after a hard-fought battle with Stage 2 throat cancer that began early in 2024. Though he triumphed over the disease, other health complications, exacerbated by his prior condition, ultimately took their toll.

Richard is now remembered as a loving father to his daughter and two sons, husband, and a cherished companion to his pets. In heaven, he’s undoubtedly flying his beloved airplanes, racing cars, watching his 85 inch TV in his favorite recliner, and enjoying the company of those he loves. His legacy of love, passion, and kindness will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
