Richard "Rick" Schunk

Richard (Rick) Schunk passed away from Covid-19 on May 10, 2021 at Piedmont Atlanta Hospital. He was from Wheeling, WV and resided in Richlands, NC and then Ball Ground, GA. He was 72 years old and is survived by his beloved wife Cathy of 49 years, his poodle Cooper and his two children; his son Chris and wife Jessica of Wheeling, WV and daughter Nikki and husband Jason of Canton, GA and two grandchildren, Joey and Noah.  He was a retired bus driver from Ohio County Schools in Wheeling, WV and then retired as a bus driver from Onslow County schools in Richlands, NC.  He worked as a teacher as well but was a bus driver for 50 years, most of which he drove special needs children.  He was a member and volunteer at Woodstock City Church in Woodstock, GA.  He loved his beloved dogs and pot-bellied pigs. His favorite hobby was his model trains and he loved to do his sudoku puzzles.  He was an intelligent, gentle, caring man who will be greatly missed by family and friends!
