Roger Lamar Bennett Jr., 73, of Jasper, left this world on December 15th, 2020 at his home in Jasper.
Roger was born in Buffalo, NY on November 3rd, 1947 to Marion Bell Bennett and Roger Lamar Bennett Sr. He attended Sylvania High School in Sylvania, Ohio, and graduated from Otterbein College in Westerville, Ohio in 1969. He received his MA in Education from North Georgia College and State University in 2002. Before moving to Jasper in 1985, Roger taught music privately for many years in Westland, Michigan, and for several more years in Jasper. He taught History and Psychology in the Pickens County school system from 1985 until 2010, and then at Mountain Education Charter High School until 2014. He loved both learning, and teaching, and truly enjoyed working with young people.
Roger is preceded in death by Roger Lamar Bennett Sr., (father) Marion Bell Bennett, (mother) and Ellen Marion Bennett (sister), and is survived by Heidi Luchs Bennett, (wife) and William Dwight Bennett (Brother).
Due to concerns about Covid-19, there will be no services at this time. When it is safe to do so, there will be a memorial gathering of family and friends.
