29 years ago, Russell Carl Burrows (Carl to all who knew him) was given 2 years to live. His motto has always been “EVERY DAY IS A GIFT”. He passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 7th, 2022 and (we believe) blissfully reunited with his bride and true love his wife Cecelia Anne Durko Burrows in Heaven. He was 78 years old.
Born in Bloomsburg, Pennsylvania on April 13, 1944, Carl attended Bloomsburg High School and then went on to Penn State University. He remained an avid Penn State Football fan throughout his life. He worked for the US Postal Service for most of his career, retiring as Postmaster from Shippensburg, PA.
Carl brought joy to every person he ever met and taught us all that laughter is truly the best medicine. He encouraged others to navigate life with a kind heart, a smile, and sense of humor.
Carl was a gifted writer, leaving with us a collection of wonderful fiction available on Amazon. Published under the name R.C. Burrows, titles include Seeds of the Past, Déjà vu, Holly’s Journey, Miss Billionaire, the Billionairess, Coffee to Go, Dry Flowers and Natural Causes.
Carl joins in Heaven his loving wife of 41 years, Cecelia Anne Durko Burrows, his brother James Burrows, his parents Russell “Rucky” and Frances Elizabeth “Betty” Hill Burrows, and brother-in-law James Durko.
He is cherished on earth by his daughters and their families
