Thelma Brookshire, a cherished soul with a heart as big as a mountain, passed away peacefully in Jasper, Georgia, on January 16, 2025, at the remarkable age of 106. Born on August 10, 1918, in Ball Ground, Georgia, Thelma lived a full and vibrant life, leaving behind a legacy of love that will forever resonate in the hearts of her family and friends.
For many years, Thelma owned and operated the beloved Town House Restaurant in Canton, Georgia, creating a warm and welcoming community hub where everyone felt at home. Her culinary talents were renowned; she had a special way of baking pies that would bring everyone running just to share in her delectable treats. The aroma of her cooking would fill the rooms like a loving embrace, inviting all to gather and enjoy the joy she instilled in every meal.
Beyond her culinary passion, Thelma held a deep love for her family, particularly her grandchildren, who were the apples of her eye. She found immense joy in their lives, showering them with affection and wisdom that can only come from a grandmother's heart. Her home was often adorned with beautiful flowers crafted from seashells, a testament to her creative spirit and love for beauty in nature.
A woman of faith, Thelma found strength and comfort in her Bible, often immersing herself in its pages while listening to gospel music that uplifted her soul. These were moments of tranquility that defined her quiet strength and infectious optimism.
Thelma is survived by her loving son, Frank Brookshire, and daughter-in-law Charlotte; her cherished grandchildren, Dwayne Brookshire and his wife Vicky, Karla Brookshire, and Michael Clayton and his wife Kimberly; along with ten great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren who continue to carry forward her spirit.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, JW Brookshire, her dear daughter, Brenda Tippens, her grandson, David Brookshire, her granddaughter, Cindy Clayton, and her great-great-granddaughter, Maeve Bridges. They were a testament to the love she nurtured throughout her life, and their absence in her final years was felt deeply.
